Cagayan de Oro City – Police Colonel Salvador N RADAM, Officer-In-Charge COCPO has reported to Police Brigadier General Ricardo G Layug Jr., Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 regarding the fire incident that resulted to multiple death that transpired on October 10, 2023, 9:00 pm at Lower Sumpong, Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City
Based on the Initial report of Police Colonel Radam, there are 5 Confirmed Casualty Identified as the following:

xxxxxxxxxx, 30 years old;
xxxxxxxxxx, 7 years old;
xxxxxxxx, 4 years old;
xxxxxxxxxxx, 25 years old.
Chief of COCPO Police Colonel Radam reported in detail of the incident that on the same time and date, Elements of Police Station 2 (Cogon) under the direct supervision of Police Captain ABDULCAHAR BACARAT ARMAMA, Officer-In-Charge, responded to a call for assistance regarding a reported fire incident at said place that resulted to the death of the above-named individuals.
Further, Personnel from BFP 10 headed by Fire Senior Inspector KYLE LAUZON, Fire and Rescue Volunteers, Oro Rescue 911 were present at the scene.
Police Colonel Radam had informed the public that based on the initial interview conducted to one of the relatives identified as one Christoper Basilad Galpo, 36 yrs old, stated that he was inside his residence when he heard some shout for help, when the rest of their neighbors went outside, they saw immediately that the house of his younger brother was burning. The fire of the said single-storey residence rapidly spread and unfortunately, the family was trapped inside. Further, the said relative stated that he rushed to his brother’s house in an effort to possibly save them but the heavy volume of fire prevented him along with the rest of their neighbors.
COCPO Chief has emphasized to the public that during the incident, the scene was cordoned and eventually fire officials declared fire out at 10:01 PM. RRFU 10 was also notified and processed the scene. A joint close coordination and investigation with the BFP 10 shall be conducted to determine the proximate cause of the incident. Initially, it is suspected that the residence had an unsafe or ‘flying’ electrical connection.”
COCPO Officer In-Charge had directed the Station Commander of Police Station 2 (Cogon) to conduct an in-depth investigation on the incident and utilize all possible physical evidence gathered which is helpful in the conduct of investigation in order to establish whether there is a foul play behind the incident. “The entire COCPO was deeply saddened to the untimely demise of the precious lives of Galpo and Epanes Family and we expressed our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family”, added Police Colonel Salvador N
