The Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Francisco D Marbil has ordered the implementation of a nationwide security plan to ensure a safe and secure observance of the upcoming Summer Vacation (SUMVAC) season wherein several events will be observed.
The PNP COCPO will provide security coverage and other public safety services where police officers will conduct mandatory security checks. “We have deployed a total of — personnel and established a total of — Assistance Desks around the City to provide security coverage and assistance to commuters and tourists here in Cagayan de Oro City.” said Pcol Radam, City Director.
City Director Radam added, “Our top priority is to prevent crime incidence in the communities, and we are intensifying the deployment of our PNP personnel who shall provide maximum security coverage and public safety assistance in key places of convergence such as transport terminals and tourist sites.”

Meanwhile, Assistance Hubs along major thoroughfares will be established in coordination with government agencies, Local Government Units and advocacy groups. The Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) will deploy road road safety marshals in major thoroughfares leading to places of convergence to prevent traffic gridlock.
According to the Chief of City Community Affairs and Development Unit (CCADU) Police Lieutenant Colonel Alwin T Baclao, Advocacy Support Groups and Force Multipliers will also be mobilized together with police presence through increased patrolling to ensure maximum police presence. During summer vacation, various events such as town fiestas, Day of Valor, Flores de Mayo, and other related activities occur and are expected to generate numerous commuters and tourists. These may cause peace and order concerns including traffic congestion, accidents, and other crimes. Criminal elements may take advantage of people converging in places such as beaches and other tourist destinations.
