Cagayan de Oro City – The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) is pleased to inform the public on a significant increase in crime solution efficiency for the CY 2023. Based on records, although, the 8 focus crimes from CY 2022 has recorded 530 compared to 568 for CY 2023, an increase of 38 or equivalent to 7.17%. Positively, there is a remarkable increase for crime solution efficiency for CY 2023 compared to CY 2022 which posted 63.96% for the year 2022 and 67.25% for 2023, a notable increase of 3.29% for CY 2023. This translates to the effectiveness of our efforts in maintaining peace and order within the city, as well as our effective measures in solving more crimes within our AOR.
The 4th quarter of the CY 2023 shows a significant decrease of 8 focus crimes from 45 for the month of October, 42 for November, and 30 for December.
The 8 focus crimes include incidents of murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, theft robbery, carnapping, and special complex crimes.
COCPO is relentless on its efforts pertaining to anti-insurgency campaign. The City of Cagayan de Oro has no recorded/monitored violent incident perpetrated by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG’s) in the area, with no presence of active guerilla fronts operating in hinterland areas within the city. More so, there is no threat of Local Terrorist Group (LTG) such as MILF, ASG and MAUTE GROUP and no records showing to manifest their violence and atrocity here in the city. This is the result of having a presence of our AFP counterparts and their continued military operations and patrolling complemented with the continued conduct of major and minor internal security operations (ISO operation) by PNP COCPO personnel under the City Mobile Force Unit, and the deployment of Revitalized Police sa Barangay (R-PSB) in the hinterland Barangay considered as Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Areas (GIDAS).
The dedicated police force of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has actively implemented various crime prevention strategies, including intensified patrolling, community partnerships and outreach programs, focused law enforcement operations, deployment of personnel for police visibility in all strategic areas and the conduct of preemptive mobile checkpoints to check all incoming and outgoing movement of vehicle as part of the City’s Anti-terrorism campaign.
These measures, combined with the support and cooperation of the community, had contributed significantly to the remarkable reduction in criminal activities.
